ONLINE MUSIC TUITION GUIDELINES
Free Sheet Music
A. Contact details are shared for the purpose of online teaching only. These contact details should never be given to a minor (a child under 16) and I do not require their contact details (phone /email).
B. Online Software/ platforms/Equipment/Wifi in order of preference 1) Zoom 2) Skype 3) Facetime 4) WhatsApp from the parent's phone/computer/iPad account not the children. To get the best sound, you might find it easier to use headphones. In case you need to move, Bluetooth/ wireless headphones might be more practical but are by no means essential.
Check your wifi to make sure you can get the maximum speed.
C. Lessons should take place in a communal area of the home with good lighting.
Younger children may benefit from parents being in the room.
Older students may prefer to be alone but in all cases an adult should be in the home and should be aware that the lesson is taking place.
D.Lessons are not to be recorded by either party. I will send any necessary clips played by myself or from You Tube or from other recordings.
- You will receive a calendar reminder 15 minutes before the scheduled time for the lesson time to allow for setting up the instrument and the hardware to be used in the lesson. You may also alert me by text when you are ready.
- Please ensure the student has all required music books and a pencil (not a pen, marker or crayon) as I will ask you to write notes in your music.
- I will send practice notes after each lesson by WhatsApp /email.
- Students should be dressed appropriately but formalwear is not required.
As we journey together through these unprecedented times I look forward to your continued support. These guidelines are subject to ongoing review and update as a result of the changing environment including Government regulations. We thank the Musicians Union for providing the basic information to allow us to formulate this guideline.
